Collective Statement: Immigrant Activists to Fight for More Progressive Immigration Reform Bill

Undocumented Youth and Allies Brutalized At the Hands of San Diego Police and Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

On Sunday July 28, 2013, 100 undocumented immigrant youth and allies joined forces with the California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance to demand Governor Brown, Senator Feinstein and Congressman Becerra, take a stand in our communities and do their job to stop the massive deportations in California. As they peacefully assembled outside the port of entry in San Ysidro, they were brutally attacked by both San Diego Police Officers and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Their demands are clear:

1. A stop to the militarization of the border

2. An end to the criminalization of immigrants

3. A stop to ALL deportations NOW

4. No more collaboration between ICE and local law enforcement

5. A stop to the privatization of detention centers and prisons

6. Governor Brown sign the TRUST Act into law in its current version in 2013

7. The release of the Dream 9 that are currently being held at Eloy Detention Center.

In a transnational organizing campaign effort to uplift the impact of deportations both in the U.S. and Mexico; echo actions were held in Tijuana Mex., Xalapa Veracruz, Mex. and Mexico City.
