DREAM Team Los Angeles and Community Leaders Host FREE Deferred Action Educational Forum on February 9th, 2013
Los Angeles is home to more than 100,000 potential Deferred Action beneficiaries. USCIS released new data this past month and revealed that the number of applicants is decreasing. Many potential applicants don’t move forward in the application process due to a lack of information as well as lack of funds to seek assistance from an attorney. We again rise to the occasion in bringing services, free of charge, to the immigrant community.
While we wait for immigration reform to unravel in the coming months, DTLA recommends DACA-eligible people to secure temporary relief. DTLA has hosted DACA workshops in the last couple of months and seeks to continue its collaboration with the community to bring undocumented residents out of the shadows and into the immigrant rights movement.
We are asking media for help in making announcements of this free service on their newscasts. Please contact us ASAP if you can help.
Who: DREAM Team Los Angeles, Dream Resource Center
What: We will be reviewing the first 200 applications of potential beneficiaries. We will also run educational workshops about Deferred Action and stage rallies throughout the day.
Why: To assist deferred action applicants in the application process and give the immigrant community vital knowledge on what deferred action is and what it’s not.
When: February 9, 2013 9am – 4pm
Where: PUENTE Learning Center, 501 South Boyle Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90033 (Boyle Heights)
